You have just received a beautiful tattoo and want to take care of it properly. Please read the following instructions. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to call me at the shop (737.205.5148).
1st day:
ONLY if RECOVERY BANDAGE (clear bandage) was used keep bandage on for 8-24 hours. If not follow procedure below.
Washing your hands first, remove the bandage 1-4 hours after the procedure.
wash the tattooed area with unscented antibacterial (dial or soft soap) or antimicrobial (Provon) hand soap. Use warm (not hot) water and wash surface until clean and not slimy. NEVER use a wash cloth or loofa on the area during healing.
Let it air dry for 10 to 15 minutes or use a clean paper towel to blot dry.
Leave the tattoo alone for the rest of the day (do not apply any lotion or ointment on this day), being careful not to rub it against anything. Limit activity for the rest of the day to allow your body to begin healing your new art.
2nd- 5th day:
Remove Recovery (clear bandage) on second day. best way to remove saniderm is to find an edge of the bandage, and then to pull it back over itself slowly towards the direction of the hair growth. using warm water or coconut oil will help loosen up adhesive in bandage.
Always wash your hands when you apply anything on your tattoo.
wash your tattoo twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening (with suggested soap mentioned above)
Let it air dry for 10 to 15 minutes or use a clean paper towel to blot dry.
At this point you can apply either a thin layer of Aquaphor (use lightly) or a fragrance free lotion (I suggest lubriderm or curel) when tattooed area appears dry 3 or 4 times a day.
There may be flaking or light scabbing during the healing process.
Do not pick or scratch the tattoo. If it itches apply lotion.
Do not expose the tattooed area to excessive sunlight or heat for 8 weeks.
Do not engage in any form of sun tanning for at least 8 weeks.
Never share aftercare lotion with anybody.
Always review any aftercare product you use for allergies.
You can return to regular water activities after this time, sometime you may need to wait longer if there is light scabbing.
Continued care of your tattoo
Use sunscreen after the tattoo is completely healed, it will help your tattoo stay bright and bold SPF 50 or higher is recommended.
